Zusammenfassung:The cultivation of rice is of vital importance, considering it a product of mass consumption, as well as generating foreign exchange and a source of employment for farmers who are dedicated to the production of this cultivation. This instrument details the influence of nitrogen fertilization applied to the cultivation of rice (Oryza sativa L.), in the Pueblo Viejo canton. For the preparation of the practical document, a survey was carried out on ten rice farmers in the Pueblo Viejo area. Based on the results obtained, it was determined that the farmers have lots of land for planting the rice crop, generally between 4 - 6 ha, carrying out the work of sowing with seed classified by the volley method, they apply irrigation with pumps, the crop being managed under irrigated rice conditions. Most of the farmers carry out fertilization with Urea and Muriato de Potasio complementary with organic products, without carrying out the respective soil analysis, impacting on the yields for not applying the adequate doses of the necessary nutrients for the development of the crop, thus raising costs of production of one hectare. It is recommended to apply 150 kg / ha nitrogen in rice cultivation, in order to increase crop yields, specifically under irrigation conditions in the Pueblo Viejo area; Carry out the respective soil analysis 25 days before planting the crop, to estimate the nutrients necessary for the development and production of the cultivars and to optimize the use of fertilizers at the appropriate dose and time, using the dosages according to the results of the soil analysis, in order to reduce production costs in one hectare of rice.
