Shrnutí:The objective of this bibliographic research is to review the SURGICAL RESOLUTION OF THE FOURTH PERSISTENT AORTIC ARCH IN DOGS, this congenital pathology manifests itself with a condition known as megaesophagus and is the most common of the group of diseases of the vascular ring that causes constriction of the esophagus. The fourth persistent aortic arch is a congenital problem that affects the main vessels at the base of the heart, generating communication between them and diverting blood flow from inside the aortic duct towards the pulmonary trunk. To diagnose the disease, it is recommended to apply diagnostic methods such as plain radiography, contrast radiography, contrast-enhanced computed tomography to visualize the main arteries. The conclusive finding represents the narrowing of the esophagus constricted by the persistent fourth aortic arch at birth. The esophagus is constricted by the fourth aortic arch and begins to dilate when food reaches the esophagus causing regurgitation intermittently. Surgical treatment is recommended by urgent thoracotomy, through an adequate anesthetic process, soft diet in the postoperative period, to ensure an efficient and effective recovery of the patient.
