Para el estudio se utilizó un enfoque descriptivo-correlacional para explorar las características y niveles de estas variables. El estudio fue no experimental, lo que significa que no se manipuló las variables. Utilizamos un enfoque cuantitativo y técnicas como la correlación de Pearson y pruebas psicométricas para el análisis de los datos. La muestra consistió de 59 estudiantes de un total de 70 alumnos que se obtuvo utilizando la fórmula de población finita. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Cuestionario de Funcionamiento Familiar (FF-SIL) y el Inventario de Depresión de Beck. Los resultados mostraron una correlación positiva débil (coeficiente de correlación de 0.263) entre la disfuncionalidad familiar y la depresión en estos estudiantes que tiene como interpretación que existe una correlación positiva débil entre las dos variablesBabahoyoMSc.
