Keywords: cocoa, nutrients, association, soil analysis, characterization.RESUMEN La importancia de la caracterización de una finca de cacao radica en el conocimiento que esta aporta sobre la calidad del suelo, sus nutrientes, y como estos aportan en el incremento de una rentabilidad o productividad, es por ello que en el presente estudio se realizó una investigación teórica – práctica con la finalidad de que se determinen las bases nutricionales que debe poseer el cacao para desarrollar un fruto de calidad, además de ello se entrevistó a la presidenta de la Asociación de productores de cacao “Buscando el futuro”, donde se conoció que sus cultivos son principalmente agroecológicos y que actualmente ha disminuido la producción; de forma práctica se hizo un análisis del suelo en el cual se determinó la carencia de ciertos nutrientes esenciales para el desarrollo de los cultivos, para lo cual se planteó las recomendaciones necesarias para ayudar a la asociación y las familias que la conforman.
