Summary:The objective of this work is to identify Toxoplasma Gondii oocysts in cats that visit clinics in the Clemente Baquerizo parish in the city of Babahoyo, considering that felines have become important members of Ecuadorian households, so much so that they are given a lot of importance to the care, well-being and health of these, it is noteworthy that they are also carriers of various types of zoonotic diseases, which can affect both the health of the animal and that of its owner, in this case the best known is toxoplasmosis, which It is generated by a protozoan called toxoplasma Gondii. If this infection is present in humans, such as in pregnant women, it can cause abortions, and if it occurs outside of pregnancy, it may affect the central nervous system. , and produce a variety of neurological anomalies, it is possible that the child is stillborn or, if alive, may suffer from mental retardation, for the development of this work, a study was carried out on 60 cats of different ages in the Clemente Baquerizo parish of Babahoyo canton, a fecal sample is taken directly from the feline's rectum with the help of a swab and by simple flotation with a drop of Lugol's with feces in a test tube. Once the sample is taken, both tests will be carried out on the slide covered with a sheet. covers object, to be taken to the microscope and determine what type of parasites will be found in each animal, obtaining as results that there is the presence of Oocysts Toxoplasmosis Gondii obtained by means of coprological examinations, being greater in females than in males, Similarly, they occur in greater numbers in mixed-breed felines and in a small percentage in Persian and American cats, it is considered that the possibility of contagion from the cat to humans is low, the felines studied do not present major discomfort Due to the parasitosis they present, the immunity generated in cats due to an infection by T. Gondii protects them, most of the time, against reinfections.
