| Summary: | Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) is an infection of the gastrointestinal tract, generally self-limited, characterized by the presence of diarrhea accompanied or not by fever, nausea, vomiting and/or abdominal pain. Depending on the cause, symptoms of viral gastroenteritis can appear one to three days after infection and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually only last a day or two, but can sometimes last up to 14 days. The lower consistency of the stools is the most important characteristic, when evaluating the nursing patient, in essence the frequency, consistency and quantity of the same, especially in the first months of life. It should be noted that among the most common causes of viral gastroenteritis include: Norovirus, Rotavirus, Adenovirus, Astrovirus. This clinical case is very important to develop and apply since it allows us to determine the basic needs, correct, maintain and recover patients through theoretical and practical knowledge. In addition to these, the complementary laboratory studies that confirmed the medical clinical diagnosis of viral gastroenteritis due to rotavirus, it was also possible to identify the basic needs of the older infant, for this the application of the nursing care process was essential, aligning it with the model of Marjorie Gordon, on the other hand, the use of the NANDA, NOC, NIC bibliographies was made, respectively, identifying with this the nursing diagnoses and applying their care plan . |
