| Samenvatting: | The main objective of this study is to identify and analyze the key differences between SSL and TLS in terms of security and data protection in online communications. The aim is to understand how TLS has improved security compared to SSL and highlight its advantages. For this purpose, the exploratory and descriptive research approach was considered, that is, the first will allow us to understand the fundamental differences between SSL and TLS, while the Descriptive research will analyze data obtained to evaluate performance and expert perception. On the other hand, the bibliographic review tools are considered using the bibliographic record instruments, followed by a comparative analysis sintered into matrices and the evaluation of the adoption leads to collecting data on the adoption and support of TLS in different contexts, which resulted in Results we can indicate the following: TLS provides stronger authentication compared to SSL, using more secure digital signature algorithms, offers a variety of stronger encryption protocols than SSL, such as AES and ChaCha20, making communications more resistant to brute force attacks, addresses known SSL vulnerabilities such as POODLE and Heartbleed, significantly improving online security, is more efficient in terms of performance, reducing the load on servers and improving the speed of secure communications . |
