Técnicas de fisioterapia para la reeducación de la marcha en pacientes con osteoartritis de rodilla que asisten al Centro Gerontológico de Babahoyo en el periodo octubre 2024- abril 2025.

Knee osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and its prevalence continues to increase due to the aging of the population and the rise in obesity. According to the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), more than 30% of people over 65 years of age in Ecuador suffer from osteoarthritis, a situation aggravated by the lack of resources and health services, which places the health system in a critical situation. This research project is carried out to analyze the physiotherapy strategies used in older adults with knee osteoarthritis who attend the Babahoyo Gerontological Center, as well as their effects on improving gait and quality of life of patients. In the city of Babahoyo, in the province of Los Ríos, older people come to the physiotherapy area of this center seeking support to overcome their functional limitations, with the aim of achieving greater independence and greater well-being. The main objective of this research is to determine the physiotherapy techniques used for gait rehabilitation in patients with knee osteoarthritis in this gerontological center. To this end, information gathering tools such as structured questionnaires designed specifically to address this issue will be applied, thus allowing progress to be made in solving the problem and achieving the stated objectives.
