Summary:The present investigation is to give alternatives to the PMP control for this reason, an organic biostimulant that induces phytoalexins and commercial insecticides was evaluated for the control of the symptoms of the purple tip in two potato varieties in the locality of Cangahua. Belisario Quevedo, Latacunga, Cotopaxi, we seek to determine the effectiveness of the strategies for the control of the symptoms of the PMP, to establish the production costs of the strategies, five treatments with three repetitions were used. The results obtained show that the treatments had no significance among them, because the incidence of the vector was constant during the crop cycle 4 silos / plot in treatment 1 (control) and 2 in treatment 5 (commercial insecticides + Recommended frequency ) of the I-Fripapa variety while in the I-Libertad variety with an average of 4 in treatment 1 (control) and 1 in treatment 5 (commercial insecticides + Recommended frequency), the PMP symptomatology presented all the symptoms in I-Fripapa and I-Libertad in treatment 1 (control) with greater involvement with 60% and 50% thickening of stems, 90% and 80% upper leaves are rolled, 40% and 20% witch broom, 80% and 80% aerial tubers, 20% and 40% dwarf respectively, drastically affecting the crop, in terms of performance, the treatments did not obtain good results, leading to a 100% loss in the two varieties in treatment 1 (Witness), the best performance in the I-Fripapa and I-Libertad, was treatment 4 (Commercial insecticides + Weekly monitoring) with a yield of 10.64 t / ha and 9.1 t / ha, so farmers must take new alternatives for integrated management from cultural controls to meet all crop needs as a Stressed plant is more susceptible to pathogen damage.
