Gaia:This research was carried out with the objective of proposing an inventory management system for the warehouse of the automotive workshop "Automecano del Sur", located in Latacunga city. The need arises due to problems such as loss, non-existence and excess of items, derived from the lack of control and adequate follow-up, which leads to delays in the activities that provide value and generate economic losses. To address this problem, different methodologies were applied. Initially, the existing items were identified and grouped by families, the ABC classification was also determined, focusing on the largest investment made, and the EOQ methodology, safety stock and probabilistic reorder point were also applied. Finally, an Excel system was developed through Visual Basic programming that allows recording inputs and outputs by means of drop-down windows. In this way 1392 items were identified, which are divided by families being 1029 of spare parts, 322 of consumables and 41 of additives, and at the same time it was identified those to which more attention should be paid through the categorization relevant (A), moderately relevant (B) and less relevant (C), it was also known that, for the "HYUNDAI TERRACAN / CARNIVAL fuel filter" the optimum quantity when reordering is 2 units, the reserve level to deal with unforeseen variations is 1 unit, and the reorder point indicating the limit to which the stock level should reach for reordering is 1 unit, this analysis was carried out for all items. It is concluded that, the data collection, the applied methods and the drop-down windows, guarantee the availability, the most effective follow-up and control, thus avoiding unnecessary losses, lack of stock and over-demand.
