סיכום:The wound healing process is a natural body reaction that depends on a series of cellular dynamic processes of the wounded tissues. In the recent years, the scientific community is researching the ancient knowledge using it for the discovery a lot of medical products, finding them in several plants; these products are called phytopharmaceuticals, later it will be called pharmaceutical inventions. The white cover of the back part of the Achupalla (Puya glomerifera) leaves was used by the traditional medicine as an effective method for the healing of any kind of wound. The native habitats of this plant are the cliffs and the Highlands region in Ecuador. This plant is an invaluable resource for scientists because it can bring new types of treatments for injuries and a lot of new treatment options for doctors and owners, those who search for a holistic option in their animal’s treatment. Its use will help the future generations to strength and popularize its use with other natural treatments; also it will help to preserve the ancient knowledge of the native habitants of Ecuador, in order to fulfill the Ecuador National Constitution, and the Plan Nacional del Buen Vivir law. This project was developed in the Cotopaxi Province, in Latacunga city, and it lasts five months duration. The project used three months old rabbits like study subjects because they are easiness of manipulation and control. Also, these animals provide to the researcher with a lot of chances for lots surgical techniques that can be applied to them with no further damage for the rabbits. The surgical technique used was the surgical castration of these rabbits. After the scientifical research, we can evidence that the chemical compounds of these plant help to the process of wound healing. For the cicatrization process evaluation, daily records were used to verify the surgical wound’s condition. All the specific data taken from the wounds, such as form, color, size, and presence or lack of secretions, were described in record cards for the study of them. The wound borders were marked with a transparent sheet of acetate. With this method, the correct measures of the wounds were obtained for further investigation. We can say it due to 30% of the test subjects, which were treated with the achupalla ointment show signals of better recovery than the other ones which did not receive any treated.
