Gaia:This research focused on evaluating the agronomic performance of promising lines of naked barley (Hordeum vulgare), from INIAP under agroecological conditions of the Salache campus of the Technical University of Cotopaxi, to determine the promising line best adapted to the conditions of the research field and to determine the best performance of the promising lines. A Randomized Complete Block Design (CRD) was used, with five treatments (4 promising lines and one variety) and three replications with a total of 15 experimental units. The variables evaluated were percentage of emergence, plant vigor, growth habit, days to ear, plant height, type of straw, ear size, number and weight of grains per ear, yield, hectoliter weight, and the weight of 100 grains. The data were subjected to a Shapiro Wilk normality test, in conjunction with analysis of variance (ADEVA), comparison tables, and a Tukey 5 % significance test. From the results obtained from the statistical analysis, it was possible to verify that all treatments were adapted to the agro-ecological conditions of the field under study, the promising line with the best adaptation was CD-19-011, complying with eight of the sixteen variables that were evaluated. With plant vigor 3 and moderately developed leaves, with a growth habit of intermediate scale 2 with leaves arranged diagonally forming an angle of 45, the height of 102. 67, with stem not very thick, erect moderately flexible that partially supports wind and lodging, spike size of 8. 42 cm, with some grains per spike of 23.8 grains, with the weight of 100 grains of 5.38 gr, with large, thick, round and cream colored grain, as for leaf rust disease (Puccinia hordei), it had a lower percentage of severity with 18.33%. The promising line CD-19-007 obtained the best yield with 6627.93 kg/ha, among the 4 lines under study.
