Čoahkkáigeassu:This project aims to implement a system of electrical protections in a 2 kW photovoltaic system to safeguard people and facilities from possible failures, overload and short circuit, this system is located on the roof top of Block B of the Technical University of Cotopaxi in the city of Latacunga. In the process, information was collected on the capacity of the equipment that makes up the photovoltaic system, these characteristics could be visualized on the data plate provided by the manufacturers of the equipment. With the values obtained and applying the current Mexican standard NOM 001 SEDE 2018, the electrical protections were sized, then the system simulation was performed in the ETAP software, which allowed verifying the voltage drop of 3.3%, validating the sizing of the conductors. Subsequently, the system protection coordination study was carried out, in which it was observed that fuse 1 with a fault current of 50 A acts in 0.11 seconds, as well as the main circuit breaker acts in 10 seconds with a fault current of 100 A. Finally, the electrical protections that were available in the market were purchased and implemented in the cabinet, with this, tests were carried out in the photovoltaic system, obtaining a voltage of 61.6 V in the measurement of the array. This implementation of electrical protections in the 2 kW photovoltaic installation using the current regulations guarantees the safety of the electrical devices protecting against possible overload and short-circuit failures.
