Gaia:This research was carried out in order to determine the problem of soil pollution with hexavalent chromium at the company Curtipiel Castro, due to the leather tanning process carried out by the company, the water which is used for this process, is poured into the Soil excess hexavalent chromium in the soil. It causes the change of its initial characteristics and affects the loss of organic matter, change its texture, and raise the pH to a basic value. The respective sampling was carried out, according to the protocol TULSMA BOOK VI ANNEX 2 according to the regulations, was taken punctually with the elaboration of a grid, the sample was collected with a depth of 30 cm with the aid of a drill, the sampling was done every two months in a semi-annual period was taken from contaminated soils and uncontaminated soils. The obtained results in the laboratory determined that total chromium and pH do not comply with the allowable limits as is stipulated in the regulations, in which it is concluded that due to the presence of factors such as solar radiation, excessive chromium in the soil, Is oxidizing to become hexavalent chromium, Cr6 + is the most toxic of the metals and affects most of the soil that over time is affecting vegetation and even causes total degradation of the soil, which can hardly be recovered. The effects that were determined in the analyzed soil of Curtipiel Castro, is the soil coloration changing, the damage in the plants root system and coloration changing in its leaves, the soil is in oxidation process, for climatic conditions of the area. Finally, the mitigation and control strategies were determined to prevent and mitigate pollution in the soil. There was an immediate soil remediation that diminished the excess of chromium, mechanisms of interaction were established with chromium and biotechnological applications with fungi in studies already carried out.
