| Summary: | The present investigation was carried out to identify the prevalence of brucella canis and its associated factors in canis familiaris in the San Bartolomé neighborhood of the Parroquia de San Juan Pastocalle in the province of Cotopaxi, since no real data on the prevalence of brucella are known. canis, from this perspective, the need arises to carry out this research and to be a rural area, in this way it could facilitate the free transit of domestic canines, which may have some degree of contact with an endless number of factors associated with b. canis. The present study was carried out in 75 randomly selected domestic canines, a survey and clinical record was made to each owner which consisted of data on the canine environment, clinical information and in this way to determine the associated factors of Brucella canis. For the blood sample of the canines, it was analyzed through the Anigen Rapid C. Brucella AB Test Kit and the surveys carried out on the inhabitants of the San Bartolomé neighborhood were tabulated. The associated factors did not influence the prevalence of brucella caniss when having a low habitual contact of canines and cattle with 8% (n = 6), 0% of milk consumption and 0% of abortions, despite 89% of sexual maturity, The test was performed in the rapid diagnostic test for each canine, the results showed 0% of positive cases. By having a social impact on the responsible holding of domestic and environmental dogs in the handling of infectious canine materials, these data were socialized with the inhabitants of the San Bartolomé neighborhood community to raise awareness of care, responsible ownership of their pets, the forms of propagation and prevention and in this way avoid the spread of brucella canis |
