Summary:The need to develop socio-emotional competencies as part of integral formation in children among four to five years old motivated to determine the following goal: Socio-emotional competencies diagnose in Initial Sublevel 2 children at Belisario Quevedo Educational Unit." The mixed approach that directed the investigation from the exploration and description of the socio-emotional competencies. Data collection techniques applied were: the interview to the coordinator of the Initial Sublevel 2, the surveys to 6 teachers and 19 parents; and the observation to 19 students. The results show 45% of infants with difficulties in socio-emotional skills development such as: empathy, social relationships, problem solving, emotional control, self-regulation, coexistence and cooperation. Similarly, parents almost always apply positive parenting styles at home. Thus, it was shown that it does influence in their socio-emotional skills development. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and parents apply new strategies that promote the socio-emotional skills development in children at home and in the educational context.
