| Yhteenveto: | “The use of natural cocoa drying techniques generate excessive process time with poor thermal performance since they generally depend on the climate, cause a final product of low quality and economic losses to the producer when selling his product, for which the need to model a rectangular cocoa dryer in forced convection arises in order to reduce drying time, automate the process and guarantee that the final product maintains its quality characteristics. Within the modeling, the following variables were taken into account to evaluate the drying time and analysis of thermal performance: air mass flow, moisture content, temperature at which drying is carried out and amount of material to be dried; In addition, the calculation procedure for the design and construction of a rectangular dryer was developed, with which the different sensors and electronic equipment that allowed the correct control of the process through the PID control algorithm were selected. Within the modeling, it was defined through experimental tests with and without load that the use of gas dispersers is necessary since they help to improve the thermal performance of the process. After the modeling of the rectangular dryer, the results obtained in experimental tests are presented, showing the quality and final moisture percentage of 7% of the cocoa, a saving in drying time of 97% compared to the natural one. In the final part, the conclusions and recommendations are described based on the implementation of the rectangular dryer. |
