Summary:This research was based on the study of how the impact of punishment on school discipline influences the performance of the student, affecting the students of the “Vicente Rocafuerte” school in the parish of La Victoria, Cantón Pujilí, Cotopaxi Province in the year In the 2012-2013 school year, this investigation identified that school abuse continues to exist although it remains a taboo within schools, confusing discipline with abuse and the most worrying thing is that legal representatives know these facts and do not denounce it, rather they authorize it. ; For this, Methods were used with which the phenomenon could be observed as it is, without the researcher being able to manipulate the variables, the results obtained show that a large number of teachers of this Educational Institution use punishment as a disciplinary method, affecting the academic performance of your students; one of the most frequent reasons being the lack of knowledge regarding adequate methods and strategies to control discipline in the classroom.
