| Resumo: | The research work called "Evaluation of traps for the control of black weevil (Cosmopolites sordidus) and striped weevil (Metamasius hemipterus) with the incorporation of two insecticides in the banana crop (Musa paradisiaca) in La Maná canton, Cotopaxi province, carried out in the Katty's farm in the San Francisco de Chipe precinct. The black weevil (Cosmopolites sordidus) and the striped weevil (Metamasius hemipterus) are infestations in banana crops and other Musaceae crops controlled with insecticides that are highly dangerous for human health and the environment. This research studied the effectiveness of chemical insecticides and two traps in the control of black weevils (Cosmopolites sordidus) and striped weevils (Metamasius hemipterus) in La Maná Canton, using a 2*2 factorial design with the implementation of 6 treatments and four repetitions, the study factors will be the factor A that corresponds to the traps and the factor b that corresponds to the insecticides. We will determine which will be the best insecticide according to the quantity and condition of the insects to analyze which weevil species will be stronger or more susceptible or to any of the two insecticides were applied as benfuracarb and permethrin in doses of 20 cc/trap (sandwich and dulzaine): Number of insects per trap, number of live insects and number of dead insects 2-4-6 days after the application during eight weeks until concluding of the fieldwork, percentage of mortality whose results were: the trap with the best results for the control of the black weevil (Cosmopolites sordidus) and striped weevil (Metamasius hemipterus) was the sandwich type with a total of 2. Benfuracarb was the most effective among 2,462 individuals captured, with a mortality rate of 70.13%. |
