Perfil de la demanda turística del cantón Latacunga, provincia de Cotopaxi, año 2021

This research was conducted in order to know the profile of tourism demand in the canton Latacunga, for which a descriptive research was done with a quantitative approach which aimed to estimate the profile of tourism demand, by characterizing the tourists of the canton Latacunga, Contributing to the tourist development of the province of Cotopaxi, with the purpose of improving the economy that has fallen because of Covid 19, for the development of this research a bibliographic review was conducted, where information was collected through secondary documents such as theses, books, PDOT of Latacunga, the Tourism Development Plan of Latacunga, magazines and articles. This helped in the construction of the technical scientific basis and the development of the instrument for the collection of information that was the result of the analysis of the research of several authors where the variables were determined: demographic, socioeconomic, motivational and preferences, for the validation of the survey a pilot study was conducted which was applied to 20 people. Once the tourist attractions and the data collection instrument were selected, the sample size was calculated using the non-probabilistic sampling formula that defined a total of 385 surveys, which were applied in the tourist attractions with the most affluence, fulfilling the objective of the research, which resulted in the estimate that between 44.15% and 49.70% of the visitors are national tourists. In conclusion, this type of tourists prefers typical food, activities such as hiking, nature tourism and adventure tourism. In the same way, the estimation of international, regional, provincial and local tourists was characterized, this research was conducted in order to help direct the promotion of tourism activities that are developed in the canton.
