| Summary: | In the actuality, the serious lack of water resources attitudes great challenges in different parts of the world due to its overexploitation, for that reason, its management must be done from the perspective of a scarce good, applying methods that minimize environmental impacts. The present investigation had as purpose the application of the methodology of evaluation of environmental impacts Battelle Columbus (BC) in the work of hydraulic exploitation Coca Codo Sinclair (CCS) for the category environmental contamination and aesthetic aspect. CCS is a state work of hydroelectric generation, with a design flow of 285 m 3 / s, captured from the Napo river basin (Amazon slope), the largest in the country. The environmental studies of CCS have not foreseen the integrated management of the water resource with local actors, either to face problems of water stress (drinking water, sanitation or floods), or the extreme climate variability, current and future, that affects human security in the Amazon foothills. For this reason, the research evaluates the impacts on the category of contamination and aesthetic aspect, using the data from the baseline of the EFFICACITAS and ENTRIX EIAs. By means of the prediction and identification of possible impacts, significant values were obtained for the phase without and with project, through a graphic representation of the environmental quality (EQ), mentioning the possible affectations that would generate adverse environmental changes. As a result, it was obtained in the category Environmental Pollution, warning signals in 6 of 21 parameters evaluated: while in the Aesthetic Aspect 10 of 17 parameters present the warning signal (high tone). Hydroelectric projects can cause irreversible environmental contamination in extensive geographic areas, which is why they have the potential to generate important impacts. Water is one of the most dynamic and contaminated elements around hydraulic projects. From the point of view of the quality and visual aesthetics of the landscape, landscape degradation is determined mainly in the water resource and biota which are vulnerable due to the intervention of human action. In comparison with the mentioned methodologies, Battelle Columbus, provides a more complete vision of the impacts caused for 78 variables in different projects or works of hydric order. |
