Итог:Sylvilagus brasiliensis; phenotypic and sanitary characterization; zoomometric and phaneroptic variables; external and internal parasites; Passarulus ambiguus. The purpose of this research was to characterize the morphological and sanitary aspects of the Tapetí (Sylvilagus brasiliensis) of Cerro El Iguán, a non-protected natural area, rich in fauna, which has not been characterized. This is the case of the specimen under study, which is often confused with the squirrel or the common rabbit by tourists and other people. Being an animal species characteristic of the Carchense moorlands and mountains, which will have the morphological and sanitary characterization, important data that will benefit the World Wildlife Fund. A random sample of 60 specimens was taken, 30 males and 30 females. Eleven zoomometric variables (cm) were recorded for each animal: Height at withers (ACR) 8.98; Ear length (LE) 10.48; Height at sternum (DE) 3.39; Head length (LC) 8.79; Head width (ACF) 8.48; Face length (LR) 8.78; Muzzle diameter (DH) 12.05; Bicostal diameter (DB) 27.93; Longitudinal diameter (DL) 34.62; Dorsosternal diameter (DD) 22.94; Thoracic perimeter (PT) 23.45; Leg length (LP) 4.09; Hand length (LM) 8.14; Rump length (LG) 7.21; Rump width (AG) 5.79; Hair length (LH) 2.17; Weight in gr. 852,67. The phaneroptic variables were: Head shape: Stylized; Ear shape: Round; Ear type: Arched; Ear orientation: Straight; Ear size: Medium; Eyes: Black; Cephalic profile (front nasal): Convex; Nose color: Dark brown; Color (pigmentation) of mucous membranes: Pink; Color of coat, back, neck, head: Grayish brown; Covering hairs: Rectors; Marbling: Presence; Color of Marbling: Light Brown; Coat: Short; Undercoat or blotches Presence; Color of Chest and Abdomen: Grayish Brown; Color of Fore and Hind Limbs: Light Brown; Forelimbs: Short; Hind Limbs: Little elongated; Nail Color: Dark; Tail Presence: Presence; Tail Color: Light Brown; Tail Length: Very short. In the sanitary characterization, skin scrapings, blood smears and coproparasitic examinations were performed to determine the presence of external and internal parasites. Through the coproparasitic examinations with the flotation method with 33% zinc sulfate solution, Passarulus ambiguus was found as the only parasite present in 22% of the population under study, that is, in 13 S. brasiliensis, 7 females and 6 males. At the end of the research, the results of the investigation were socialized to the officials of the Department of Environment of the Municipal Government of Canton Espejo. The contribution will be to promote characteristic and sanitary data of the species in the place under study, with an impact on the environment.
