Description
Summary:The present research was developed at study area which is located in Cotopaxi province, Latacunga canton located in an latitude of 0° 56´00 “S longitude 78° 37´00¨ W and the most appropriate point for the location was determined of a dam that collects the water of the micro basin the same one that is located in the coordinates 7662289 m, 991475 m. Digital terrain models , MDT ( Aster Gdem) and GPS were used and the techniques of observation, data recording, measurement, document analysis and calculation were applied to determine the Flow rate of the micro basin. The surface for the upper basin is 1068.2 ha, which corresponds to 0,77%. In order to calculate the length of the main river, which is 15021.8 meters and with the use of a TIN, the surface that can be flooded in the main micro basin of the study area was calculated, this área is 3963808.3 m , which corresponds to 7.46% of the total management of the micro basin where the study area is located. The required anual precipitation for the designed dam is 1028.40 mm , which will help cover the water demand of the study area, through a topographic study, the design of an irrigation canal was designed to supply the irrigation needs of the sector and determined that there is a need to build a civil work ( irrigation canal) of 28640 meters, to 6 dams which will be located strategically. This study will use as a basis for future researches, that will be applied in the sector in relation to the use of the water resources of the micro basin
