| description | The parents involvement in the student learning process is a task that involves strengthening the school-family bond. From the execution of a descriptive investigation and the application of a survey to the teachers in formation of the Basic Education Career of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. The results of the research show that the educational parental role can be described by the degree of participation of parents in educational tasks, family-school relationship benefits, decisions of the institution. In conclusion, there is little involvement of parents in the academic activities of their children, largely due to the existence of dysfunctional families, single parents, parents engaged in commercial activity, among others. |

De allí que el presente estudio tiene el propósito de determinar el rol parental educativo como medio para mejorar el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes. A partir de la ejecución de una investigación descriptiva y la aplicación de una encuesta a los docentes en formación de la Carrera de Educación Básica de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron un gran desinterés por parte de los padres en el aprendizaje de los niños ya que ellos no acuden a las convocatorias realizadas por los docentes sino más bien envían a sus abuelos o hermanos mayores para que los represente. Esto indica que el grado de participación de los padres en el aprendizaje de los niños es de suma importancia para mejorar el rendimiento académico.
