| Summary: | The current research project was carried out in the Latacunga canton, being the aim to determine the resources interpretative potential, which have unique characteristics and features, which can be interpreted in the hiking sites from Latacunga canton, Cotopaxi province, applying the Interpretative Potential Index (IPI) for the assessment sheet for the use and exploitation of public spaces, giving a solution to its main problem, being for the information lack and visits decrease to these places. Furthermore, it was made the corresponding analysis, by verifying the IPI, according to the assessed parameters, these being: singularity, attractiveness, impact resistance, accessibility, seasonality, current influx, available information, installation and security easeness each one the sites, thus emphasizing the integrity and security, when going through said points; the used methodology for all the research was inductive, descriptive and direct observation, with the techniques help, such as mapping key actors, who work in the tourism field in the aim one; for aim two, the IPI assessment sheet application to assess and describe the got results with relation to the sheet applied in the resources, of what the site with the highest IPI is the Limpiopungo Lagoon, comprising a 35.3 valuation with a 77% percentage, on a Very High IPI scale, that is, what it has exceptional features to be interpreted; immediately, it is found the Cunuyacu Hot Springs and Waterfall, with a 29.3 score and a 62% percentage, estimating a High IPI, considering suitable features for its interpretation, then, it was located the Cerro Morro and the Quilindaña Lagoon with a 29.3 score and a 65% percentage, reflecting High IPI. Based on the got data, through the file, it was established the assessed points resources GPS on a map elaborated in the QGIS application. According to aim three, the used technique was the surveys to hikers application, which is got the following results: In the target market definition, the demographic variable reflects, what 100% correspond to Ecuadorian nationality, which reside in different parishes and parts from country, mainly, in the city of Latacunga, Quito, Machachi, Pastocalle, Salcedo, La Maná. , Pujilí, Saquisilí, Guaytacama, Lasso, Mulaló, Sigchos, Zumbahua, Pillaro, Ambato Riobamba, Santo Domingo, Oyacachi, Loja and Guayaquil. Further to the surveyed 385 people, 77% correspond to the masculine gender and 22% belong to the feminine, the remaining percentage is denominated as other. The respondent’s age is mostly in the 15 to 20 years range, with 59%. Due to the above, it is determined, which within aim one, it was identified eleven hiking sites to be assessed; In aim two, it was made the selected sites IPI assessment, through the field file application and with relation to the third aim, it was defined the defined hiking sites target market, which contributes information, regarding tourists’ income and their frequency, during by hiking sites tours belonging to the canton. |
