सारांश:This research project aims to diagnose the current situation of the soil, flora and fauna of the surroundings of the Cotopaxi Aglomerados, for the elaboration of a database, starting from an environmental diagnosis and georeferencing of the study area where it is located, considered as possible source of air pollution. To determine the area of influence, the first set of sampling points was defined taking into account the major edge of the wooden industry Aglomerados Cotopaxi. From this first set of sampling points a distance in a straight line of 500 meters was defined for the next set of sampling points, and so in a consecutive way to cover an area of 2 kilometers measured from the first point as indicated by the Annex 5, thus obtaining 40 points, depending on the predominance of the wind from south to north was determined that 15 points are of higher incidence. This information was the basis for the monitoring of the biotic and abiotic factors based on the methodology of linear transects and direct observation at each point. To perform the sampling of the biotic component were established as methods of evaluation linear transects, in each of them were applied qualitative methods according to the particularity of the groups evaluated, this with the aim of registering the largest number of species for the area where it was developed the project. Taking into account the ecological characteristics of the study area (altered habitats), the transects were located for the sampling of the biotic groups in a radius of approximately 10 meters at each sampling point, the information collected in each of them, was determined that these transects had habitats where despite the altered state of the area still offer shelter for species that have adapted to such climatic and environmental conditions.
