| Résumé: | The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites that affect sheep, through the use of laboratory and famacha techniques to know the health status of said animals from the Guangaje parish in the Pujilí canton of the Cotopaxi province, in which a sample of 205 sheep was analyzed from feces taken directly from the rectum of the animals. By applying stool tests with the Faust flotation technique, a quantification of the eggs of gastrointestinal parasites Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, etc. was obtained, in addition to the identification of the most prevalent parasite, and with the use of the Famacha method it was identified the anemic degree of sheep with direct and judicious observation on the coloration of the membranes of the conjunctiva of the eye. A survey was applied to the producers of the farms to know the race, age, sex, type of exploitation, type of feeding, facilities, sanitary management, descriptive statistics were used analyzing the maximum values, minimum values and percentages through the Excel program and statistical program minitab. Of the results obtained, 82.44% were positive for some infestation by gastrointestinal parasites. The most relevant genera in all the animals according to the parasitic species were: Haemonchus with 73.66%, followed by oesophagostomun with 17.07% and nematodirus with 16.59%. Under the conditions of the present study, it is concluded that there was a high percentage of parasitized sheep in the parish. |
