| Sumario: | This project focused on analyzing the instruments for collecting field information on competitiveness and sustainability in tourism transportation companies and tour operators in the Latacunga canton, province of Cotopaxi, Ecuador. The objective of the research is to design an instrument that allows collecting information on competitiveness and sustainability in the tourism context of Latacunga, to propose short and long-term continuous improvement strategies for companies and operators in the city. The research has a qualitative approach with an exploratory research level where a bibliographic analysis and a characterization of the existing instruments were carried out, to identify the variables and subvariables related to competitiveness and sustainability in the tourism sector. From this, an instrument for sustainability was designed that consists of 3 areas (social equity, environmental conservation, and economic efficiency), which has 14 subvariables and 30 descriptors with a rating of 150 points, for competitiveness the instrument consists of 3 areas (quality in customer service, quality in infrastructure and location and use of digital media, which has 10 subvariables and 29 descriptors with a rating of 145 points. Subsequently, a pre-validation was carried out through judgment of experts, obtaining a satisfactory result in terms of sufficiency, clarity, coherence and relevance, with a score of 36 out of 40. The surveys were carried out in the tour operators and tourist transport companies of Latacunga, unifying the results to establish the levels acceptance of the instrument, it was established that the acceptance levels of the instrument were 84.49% in terms of competitiveness, which indicates that it is always competitive and 75.33% in relation to sustainability, its assessment indicates that it is almost sustainable, allowing understand the variables of competitiveness and sustainability in the tourism sector of the canton of Latacunga, providing a solid basis to propose continuous improvement strategies for companies. In conclusion, this study contributes to the development of the tourism sector by providing a methodological instrument that allows it to be modified and evaluate the competitiveness and sustainability of companies in the short and long term. |
