إضافة وسم | الملخص: | The Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus), inhabits certain areas of the highlands of Ecuador, however, its sightings are not so common. The present research work was carried out in the moorlands of the Alaquez parish, belonging to the Latacunga canton. For this purpose, we used direct monitoring methods (transects, use of binoculars) and indirect monitoring methods (recording of signs: tracks, tracks, tracks, trails, photo-trapping, surveys and technical sheets). Through the sum of each of the signs, the results show a total of 142 records; of which, 39 data were obtained at an altitude of 3800 meters above sea level (Cuchitingue y San Isidro), 84 data at an altitude of 3700 meters (Cuchitingue y San Isidro) above sea level and 19 data at an altitude of 3100 meters (Cuchitingue y San Isidro) above sea level. Therefore, the presence of the Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus) in the Alaquez moorlands is confirmed, mainly at a higher altitude in the morning hours. Similarly, the technical data sheet shows that anthropogenic activities (livestock, agriculture, introduced species, deforestation) have made it difficult to analyze the presence of this canid. The 43 data recorded as signs show that there is a high incidence of feral dogs in the Alaquez moorlands, which compete for food sources with wildlife, in this case Lycalopex culpaeus, causing the Andean fox to move to other areas and reducing its population. Taking into account the records and information on the presence of the Andean wolf, the incidence of feral dogs and anthropogenic activities, the proposal is to create public policies and raise awareness in society for the conservation of these emblematic species and the benefit of the communities. |
