Prevalencia de Brucella Canis y Factores Asociados en Caninos Domésticos (canis familliaris) en la Comunidad San Agustín de Callo

The objective of the research was to identify the prevalence of Brucella canis in domestic canines related to the associated factors of the community of San Agustín de Callo, from the Latacunga canton of Cotopaxi Province to establish preventive measures. Brucella Canis is an intracellular battery of worldwide distribution, causes brucellosis in dogs, which can be asymptomatic or take pictures of fever, pain, sterility and its main symptom is abortion in pregnant females. Infection in humans is rare, but this may be the case due to improper handling of specimens in the laboratory. The study was carried out in 75 canines to which the Brucella AB test kit was applied, as a diagnostic tool in which we only need two drops of blood and the corresponding reagent for this test, in addition three activities were performed the first was enc Responding in order to determine the associated factors of this disease, the second a clinical history to determine the health status of each subject of study and the last one complementary test that was Rose of Bengal for canines that positive to Brucella Ab test Kit. A general prevalence of 15% was obtained i.e. 11/75 cases were positive. The factors associated with the positives are the age, a large percentage of positive animals are in the range of 1 – 5 years, the environment where they develop, their food and the health control that the owner Destines to his pet. The impact of this research is that the percentage of prevalence is alarming, so animal and human health are seriously threatened by this disease.
