Summary:The small and medium producers of the parish of Guaytacama have been making crosses through direct mounting or artificial insemination, but it has not been possible to generate good management for profitable livestock since the genetics that are spread are not designed for the environment, management and type of production of this parish. Therefore, the following research was carried out with the objective of implementing a sustainable genetic improvement program for dairy cattle in the parish of Guaytacama and thus be able to select the best specimens to spread their genetics, to achieve this end we have selected the variables; weight gain, adult weight and fertility. For this, information was collected on: weight, diseases, presence of mastitis, measurement of milk both in kilograms and its density (qualitative and quantitative characteristics), deworming and vitamin was carried out in October. With the data obtained, calculations were made through Excel, for the variable weight gain, the 104 animals in total that are part of this research were selected; An average weight gain of 636 grams per day was obtained.. In the case of the fertility variable, 32 females were selected from one year and 3 months that had fertility problems, regardless of their category (cows or vacons); an average of 305 open days was obtained in the parish for a monthly loss of $1529 per month. For adult weight, 10 cows from 4 years of age were selected; obtaining an average of 492kg. Colorada, Querida and Estrella are selected with an adult weight les tan 500kg, with the presence of open days normal or less than established and a daily weight gain that does not fall below 700gr.
