Summary:The present investigation was made to diagnose the consumption of food in the fattening stage of male and female cuyes in the Experimental and Production Center Salache (CEYPSA). The aims of itself were the identification of animals, groups in relation to similar phenotypic characteristics and the data collection to determine the consumption of food by each of the stablished groups, permitting to determine the improved animals related to each of the defined characteristics. In consequence, took place the aretaeus of all animals was held and their respective codification; then, the chose by each of the presented characteristics of the animals was done, and they were grouped by their similarity for after continuing with the weighing of supplied food and later consumption of it, the residue is determined and the consumption results of food are obtained.
