Creación de un centro de interpretación de la cultura panzaleo, Cantón Salcedo Provincia de Cotopaxi

In Ecuador, the loss of cultural identity has been deeply affected by various factors, with acculturation being one of the main causes. This phenomenon has left a significant mark in different historical moments, leading many citizens to disconnect from their indigenous roots, even when they are direct descendants of these rich traditions. With the general objective of counteracting this process and revitalizing the intangible cultural heritage of the Salcedo Canton, Cotopaxi Province, the creation of a cultural interpretation center in the Panzaleo town is proposed. This center will focus on the dissemination and preservation of local cultural traditions. To carry out this initiative, a mixed methodology was adopted that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. The qualitative research was based on interviews with local inhabitants, allowing them to identify their attitudes, perceptions and experiences regarding their cultural identity. The quantitative research was carried out through surveys applied to visitors to the Yambo Lagoon, providing valuable information on the receptivity of the proposal to establish the center. The type of research covered field, bibliographic, exploratory and descriptive aspects. The ethnographic method was chosen to achieve a deep and contextualized understanding of the study community. Additionally, an analytical approach was used to more precisely identify the target audience, understanding their preferences, needs and behaviors, which will facilitate the effective design of the cultural interpretation center. The results through the financial analysis were considered viable for the creation of the cultural interpretation center in the province of Cotopaxi, Salcedo canton. After carrying out the respective financial analysis, it was concluded that the creation of an interpretation center will serve as an educational and participatory space to disseminate and keep alive the cultural identity of the Canal Zone community, Salcedo canton.
