Shrnutí:The project studied the public opinion of young people from the urban sector of Latacunga city, who have access to Facebook pages as Resistencia EC and Don Burro President, about the political memes published on the social network Facebook, they were the direct beneficiaries the indirect beneficiaries are: the general population of Latacunga city, the students of the Social Communication Career and Technical University of Cotopaxi professors. The research was carried out on October 2017- September 2018, a period in which relevant events that marked a national policy trend, such as the denunciations of Jorge Glass’s acts of corruption in the Ode Brecht case, problems on the northern frontier about alias the Guacho and presidential elections in Venezuela. The field work was addressed from memes theory in popular culture, digital ethnography in information networks and public opinion, which refer to citizen participation in the sociopolitical context. The main objective systematized the opinions and experience of young people regarding the use of memes in the political sphere in a humorous sense, satire or entertainment, which they share in their Facebook profiles. The observation sheets applied included the following ethnographic indicators: number of people following the page, number of memes published daily, either, images or video, and finally, the relevant topics of the political situation. The focus group worked on the three dimensions of the socio-political context: the social network Facebook, political memes and public opinion. The main findings in the investigation were the popularity of the political figures such as Rafael Correa, Jorge Glass, Lenin Moreno and the Assemblymen of Alianza País, who periodically star in the political reality of Ecuador, through the massive publication of memes on the Facebook Resistencia EC pages and Don Burro President.
