| Summary: | The main objective of this project was the design and implementation of a thermoforming machine for biodegradable dishes based on the abaca plant, a team that was implemented in the CEVICHERIA "MAGUS", located in the province of Pichincha - Quito - Sector la Villaflora - Barrios Santa Rita, this project is an initiative to seek environmental solutions in the face of the excess of waste existing in the surroundings of the establishment. The thermoforming machine is a device that allows the realization of plates by means of a process that involves the transfer of heat and the force to which the abaca stem is subjected. The machine has mechanical, hydraulic and electrical parts, being the mechanical parts, the structure in general of the machine such as: beams and columns, which are linked to the hydraulic part that consists of hoses, cylinder and hydraulic power plant. Like the hydraulic part, the electrical part is located in the structure of the machine and consists of pushbuttons, contactors, switches, cartridge-type electrical resistances and temperature sensors. The thermoforming process takes place through a process of heat transfer from the cartridge-type resistors to the forming dies (STEEL ASTM A45), this temperature will be controlled by means of a pyrometer located in the dies, subsequently the force is applied necessary to shape the material by means of a hydraulic piston, in this process the raw material such as the abaca stem achieves a thermoforming equal to the shape of the matriz. The results obtained through the experimental practice were the expected ones having a thermoforming process controlled at a temperature of 240 ° C and a pressure of 100 PSI. The whole control system is protected by sensors and thermomagnetic switches, in order to safeguard the good functioning of the equipment and the safety of the people.
