Summary:The main objective of this study is to determine the relationship between leadership styles and work performance of public servants in the administrative area of the GAD Cantonal de Salcedo, having as a research problem, within the GAD Cantonal de Salcedo there is a lack of coordination when performing their duties between leaders and their subordinates, affecting work performance and therefore, performance, having as object of study the public entity located in the province of Cotopaxi Canton Salcedo with a population of 129 collaborators in the administrative area, the instrument was validated with Cronbach's alpha whose P value is 0.967, that is, it has a good internal consistency, using a quantitative methodology, entity, in such a way this research was of a quantitative approach non-experimental design and of a descriptive and correlational scope, an instrument was used for the Leadership variable it was identified that the three types of leaderships that prevail in the public entity and for the Work Performance variable were provided information by the. . In such a way that the results show that the Transformational Leadership type is predominant with 65.89%, followed by Transactional Leadership with 56.59%, and then Laissez Faire Leadership with 55.81%, the Anova statistic was performed to highlight the correlation between the two variables, giving as results a significance value of (0.982) for which, according to Gonzalez's theory, we reject the hypothesis of equal measures and accept the equality of measures, that is, there is no difference between the groups. The 4 strategies are determined, Interaction between leader and subordinates, Mentors and coaches, Motivation to the work team, and operational independence.
