Description
Summary:The abandonment of the elderly in rural areas is a historical constant that involves the family with the elderly within a context where it is necessary to identify family dynamics and their impact on informal caregivers of the elderly, considering that caregivers are direct relatives. To comprehend this reality, we approach it quantitatively through methods such as descriptive, field, and documentary bibliographic studies, to delve into the analysis of the impact of family dynamics on caregivers of the elderly. In the course of this research, instruments were employed, including a questionnaire composed of twenty-three questions administered to caregivers in the rural sector of Cotopaxi. This research revealed that a significant group of caregiver’s experiences disruption in family dynamics, alongside exhaustion, constant fatigue, stress, headaches, and muscular pains as a result of the care and attention provided. Lack of practical and theoretical knowledge for adequate care, coupled with economic challenges in meeting the basic needs and care of the elderly, were also evident. The findings of this research determine that caregivers often face multiple challenges within the family and elderly care dynamics, resulting in physical wear, emotional, and social among the mentioned social actors.
