Description
Summary:This research was based on the identification of plant species that, over time, have adapted to climatic variations and, therefore, to the type of soil existing in the Salache ‘CAREN’ experimental campus. The main objective was to evaluate the adaptation and vulnerability of plant species in the face of climate change through the application of satellite inputs, fieldwork, and the use of geographic information systems. For the vegetation identification sampling, the 30x25 m2 quadrant technique was applied; the first quadrant was called the lower part, the second quadrant was the middle part, and the third quadrant was the upper part, thus covering the total area in the study. In the lower area, 12 species were found where ornamental tobacco (Nicotiana glauca) predominates. In the middle area, ‘sigse’ (Cortaderia nítida), as does the upper area, finding a total of 23 species in the entire study unit; that is, there is a reduction in species compared to past research. For the graphical comparative analysis of the change in temperature five years ago, the data and climatic variations recorded by the Ruminpamba -Salcedo station were collected for the years between 2019 and 2023, where it could be determined that the year with the highest temperature was in the year 2022; in addition, it was identified that there were variations in high and low temperatures in the analyzed time interval and that the averages of the highest temperatures are from the months of March, while the months with the lowest temperature were the month of December.
