Samenvatting:The main aim this research project was to determine the relationship between leadership styles and decision making in the hotel sector from Latacunga canton, using a quantitative approach, descriptive design and a cross section. The sample consisted 41 managers to whom were applied them the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and General Decision-Making Style (GDMS) questionnaires, and were analyzed the data, through SPSS software. The results revealed a significant relationship between leadership style and decision making with the Chisquare statistics: 0.050308; Statistical power: 0.67, supporting hypothesis H1: Leadership style is related to the hotel sector decision-making style. The conclusions highlight the effective leadership importance in the hotel sector, underlining the leadership styles impact, such as transformational, transactional and Laissez-Faire in the strategies formulation, through the decisions implementation. It was observed a predominance from laissez-faire leadership style. The study stands out for the great freedom, what the leader gives to subordinates and for the ability to build an independent team. It also mentions the rational, intuitive, dependent, evasive and spontaneous decision-making styles, giving a preference for the decision-making style among managers. This rational approach allows decisions to be based on data and evidence, contributing to more effective and beneficial decisions for the entity. The research provides valuable insights into management in the hospitality sector, suggesting that informed and considered management is essential to the establishments success and sustainability this competitive industry.
