Prevalencia de Toxoplasmosis en Gatos Domésticos (felis catus) en el Barrio San Sebastiàn Cantón Latacunga.

The principal objective of this investigation has been to determinate the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in domestic felines in San Sebastián neighborhood of Latacunga.It has placed in fifty units of studies (fifty domestic CATS of the sector),they have been chosen indiscriminately in relation to their sex, age and race.3 ml of blood was extracted from the jugular vein, allowing working in the process of centrifuged by the manufacturer to measure the specific titers of toxoplasmosis IgG / IgM through hematological examination and through the kit toxoplasmosis indirect multi species obtaining the following results: The absolute prevalence of toxoplasmosis in domestic felines of San Sebastián’s neighborhood is 20% of a total of 50 units (100%) of study, giving 10 positive tests, to the prevalence by ages the results are : in cats from 0 to 12 months, 17.24%, from1 to 5 years, 25% and 5 years, 20%. The prevalence for Sex in males was 28% and in females 12.00% While that by breed in the so-called Mestizo short hair has 18.51%, Mestizo hair Long has 31.25% and other races have 0.00%.They are accepted as valid with a considerable social impact due to the fact that this disease is of zoometric origin, also it can be transmitted by direct vectors such as the domestic cat and in indirect way by eating meat from infected animals. The results getting permit to create public health and environmental health in San Sebastián´s neighborhood also to compliance with the law organizes animal welfare, on the problems that lead to toxoplasmosis in the familiar nuclear being harmful to public health in susceptible people with low immunity especially in women who are pregnant .Women can be affected with this ,producing abortions in the first third of pregnancy, or children with learning deficits, according to both bibliographic and practical researches, If you want to live with pets .It´s necessary to have sanitary hygienic conditions The domestic cat is the first specie where the parasit develops.
