| Riassunto: | This research was carried out in Latacunga canton, Jose Guango Bajo Parish, Centro Neighborhood, to analyze food waste in the area. The kobotoolbox tool methodology was used, which allowed the researcher to quickly and efficiently collect the survey results. The strategic random sampling was used to apply 2,481 surveys: 700 applied to agricultural producers, 860 applied to consumers, and 921 applied to marketers. The current food system reveals some weaknesses concerning the income and use of edible foods. According to the FAO, a third of the world's production is not consumed, being lost and wasted along the way. The diagnosis in Cotopaxi Province shows an inconvenience in the waste of edible food, whose concern and interest on the entire city's organizations and civil society are increasing. The study focuses on the context of waste. The results detail the lack of regulations and inconveniences derived from the composition of the system. The results report that most people waste food, either at home, which is 30%, in marketing 25%, in storage 25%, while in the distribution of food is 20%. 80% of those surveyed affirm that the UTC Food Bank proposal for Latacunga city would be a good initiative, which would benefit vulnerable people in the sector. |
