Evaluación morfométrica y productiva en subpoblaciones de cuyes machos reproductores para el centro experimental académico Salache (ceasa) de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi

In the current research. it proceeded to assess the different morphometric and productive characteristics in reproductive male guinea pigs subpopulations for the Salache Academic Experimental Center (CEASA), within the characteristics, they will be sought the type A guinea pigs, which are those with good length, width and depth , the head length, back and body, thoracic perimeter, presence or not eddy on the head, the number of fingers on their extremities, if they have drooping ears and as productive parameters, food consumption, weight gain and feed conversion. For the assessment, they were researched 30 males of different populations in the weaning stage, 10 guinea pigs from the Salache Academic Experimental Center (CEASA), 10 guinea pigs from the Chimborazo Higher Polytechnic School (ESPOCH) and 10 guinea pigs from Matilde Farm, located in the Ambato city, these subpopulations were introduced to CEASA, where was carried out the study. For the selection, the data were collected every 15 days, from the day they arrived, plus the adaptation 4 days, data, which were recorded in Microsoft Excel tables, where were got the statistical registers, such as the mean, standard deviation, minimum and the max. The male guinea pigs, which gained the most weight were those the ESPOCH subpopulation with a maximum weight gain for 8.58g per animal and they had the best morphological characteristics presented, regarding group averages, for individual selection, most the animals presented type 1 and type A characteristics guinea pigs, however when collecting the information, the male guinea pig 1507 was the best animal belonging to the subpopulation group from Chimborazo Higher Polytechnic School.
