Description
Summary:The present investigation evaluated natural and commercial insecticides, as control strategies for the possible vector (Bactericera cockerelli) in two potato varieties, in the town of Chavezpamba. Belisario Quevedo, Latacunga, Cotopaxi, in order to identify the most efficient strategy for the control of the possible vector, compare the behavior of the two potato varieties and establish the production costs of the strategies, five treatments with three repetitions were used, where the evaluation indicators were emergency percentage, symptom record of the purple tip of the potato, incidence and severity of the vector, plant height, days of flowering and harvest, number of tubers per plant and yield of t / he has. The results obtained show that treatments 3 (commercial insecticides) and 5 (solid grow and biglife + commercial insecticides) are the best strategies for the control of the possible vector, because the incidence of the vector was minimal and the symptomatology did not have major affectation having low percentages in the main symptoms, but in terms of yield, treatment 3 (commercial insecticides) obtained higher production with an average of 29.16 t / ha in the I-freedom variety and with 18.32 t / ha in the variety I-Fripapa, in comparison to the others in both varieties, in the case of the variety I-Libertad had good behavior behavior in all its phenological stages, was the one with the lowest symptoms and the one with the highest yield t / ha, while in production costs the strategies of the treatments 3 (commercial insecticides) and 5 (solid grow and biglife + commercial insecticides) had an economic balance between their expenses and income allowing to obtain an economic profitability, for that reason Farmers in the research area should introduce the I-Libertad variety, due to its adaptability to the sector, resistance to the presence of the possible vector and its symptomatology, through the establishment of larger areas with the best-performing strategies.
