The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the effect of the guinea grass "Panicum maximum" in the removal of TPH, in the Cutuchi River. For this reason, an island of 0.35 cm2 was installed in a 77 liter body of water (Treatment 1), three repetitions and one witness. The equations of the parameters removed, were every 21 days; as well as the development of the plant for four months. The percentage of removal was 80.76 of TPH (according to their results). The system of floating islands and the variety of guinea grass "Panicum maximum" is an alternative to improve water quality.
