| Summary: | This research work was developed in the Educational Unit Simon Rodriguez from Latacunga canton and aims to answer the following problem how does the critical reading influence the teaching learning process in students from seventh grade? The objective was to foster the teaching learning process through critical reading. The type of research achieved in this work is field research and the deductive, biographical, statistical, and empirical method were employed. They were used to set the epistemological foundations and validate the proposal. Ten didactic critical reading workshops were developed through the application of the proposal and their use helped students to be competent readers with the application and practice of the critical reading levels. To carry out this, diagnosis instruments such as questionnaires were created to gather information with regard to the problem statement. The diagnosis and application of the instruments describe the need of fostering the critical reading in the teaching and learning process through a proposal mainly focused on didactic workshops. Results show that 88,23% (15 students) achieved a meaningful improvement in the process of critical reading as compared with the ones who got at a moderate ranking of 11,76% (2 students). Results demonstrated that the proposal “critical reading workshops” contributed a great deal in the teaching and learning process, its application is feasible as well as important to be taken into account and be considered as a reference for future research. |
