Riassunto:A genetic improvement for cattle milk producers program is carried out through selection of a genetic evaluation considering genealogical and phenotypic data, with this information on the genetic values of the animals that are adapted to the local environment, the variation of the results at the time of its application is avoided because they are not affected in the genotype-environment relationship, so the present investigation was made at Tanicuchí parish located in the northern region of Latacunga canton, Cotopaxi province, where small and medium producers were found who are dedicated to the production and marketing of raw cow's milk, which is the livelihood of a lot of families within the parish, with the aim of deriving the economic values of bovine milk production by collecting data from each farm, 8 people are integrated into the genetic improvement program with a total of 88 bovines, of which 62 are milk-producing cows. The animals are managed in a semi-stabled way, in an area of 2 hectares on average with an animal load of 2.2 UBA, within the parish (88.6%) are animals of their own origin, from what we understand that the owners manage that the animals born on their farms reach their production stage without the need to incorporate other animals. The Holstein Friesian breed with 90.9% is preferred by owners with an average density of 1.027 g/ml in milk which is low in relation to the normal value of 1.029 g/ml. In terms of production costs, if the time invested by each owner is considered, transformed into working hours, the value is 0.55 cents, which compared to the sale price, which is 0.43 cents, the producers work in negative numbers, however, there is no sensitivity to this because it is money that does not enter, but not that must be paid, also determining that the cost of balanced supply is the largest economic outlay of the producers within the parish. The selection criteria that must be applied according to the collected data are: 1. In spite of milk production, which is not so good due to different factors, there are animals that have an excellent milk production of 8kg/cow/day that would be an average to reach in general. 2. The daily weight gain (DWG) in which there is a gain of 300 g/day in several animals, hoping to have a gain of 700 g/day, which is ideal. 3. The density of the milk in view of the fact that there were found animals with good values in their density with an expectation of reaching an average of 1,029 g/ml in general, which the collecting and processing companies of raw milk will establish as a standard for their reception.
