| Riassunto: | Vector-borne infections related to pets have generated increasing interest in recent years, especially since many of these agents have zoonotic importance. Throughout its history, man has been in direct or indirect contact with many animals, mainly domestic canines (canis familiaris), pets that play an important role in society; They are important "companions" in many homes, contributing to the physical, social and emotional development of people, especially children and adults. Despite this, there are several studies that indicate that pets constitute a risk to the health of their owners as they are sources of infections (parasitic, bacterial, viral and fungal) that can be transmitted from pets to humans. These diseases such as brucellosis, which represents a public health problem as it is a zoonotic disease, which is transmitted from animals to humans if the necessary precautions and knowledge are not taken to deal with pets that suffer from it. For this reason, the present investigative work was carried out in the El Boliche neighborhood belonging to the San José de Pastocalle Parish, with the objective of determining Brucellosis and associated factors in (canis familiaris) to establish the prevalence of infectious diseases (Brucellosis) in the aforementioned sector; for which 75 canines of both sexes and with ages from 0 to 12 months, 13 months to 5 years and older than 5 years were sampled, which were tested using the Immunochromatography technique (Rapid Test Kit) for the diagnosis of antibodies against Brucella canis together with the application of a questionnaire to their owners to determine risk factors for said disease. 75 blood samples were obtained, obtaining a prevalence of 0% to Brucella canis. No relationship was observed between risk factors and the manifestation of the disease in the current study, indicating that the sampled population is free of the disease. The information obtained benefited the residents of the El Boliche neighborhood of the Pastocalle parish, by detailing the prevalence rates of brucellosis in canis familiaris in the sector, and raising awareness among the population about the responsible ownership of domestic animals. |
