Within the investigation, 3 specific objectives were raised that will allow the project to be carried out. Based on the proposed objectives, the first phase is to carry out an inventory verification of the existing tourist attractions within the canton, for this the inventory records that were carried out through the Guide for the survey of Tourist Attractions of Ecuador ( MINTUR), subsequently, the team carried out 8 field trips in all the parishes to verify that the provisions of the cadastre were met, the verification was detailed within the matrix known as "CHECK LIST" that served to know the real amount of attractions by parish, which gave a result that some attractions stopped working, changed administration or simply perished over time, in addition, to emphasize that others were not contemplated or the record was ignored, it was also determined that there is a new attraction in the parish of Guaytacama. In the development of the second objective, the SWOT diagnosis was made through interviews with people who work in the tourism sector and it was related to the MEFI MEFE-MIE matrices to establish the level of benefit or weakness, in addition the survey was applied to national and foreign tourists at strategic points to assess the level of potential according to the most recognized attractions of each parish. Finally, the matrix of potentiality indicators proposed by (Sandoval, 2006) was used, in which the level of potential is established according to the qualification of its variables, giving a result that within the Latacunga canton "IF EXISTS" cultural tourism potential such as the Mama Negra festival with national and international scope, like the Cotopaxi volcano, a well-known natural attraction, but the canton itself has a cultural tendency. In the third objective, a proposal for an academic article was designed to publish the results in the RENPYS journal. It was determined that the Latacunga canton does have tourist potential, however, it is necessary to keep the information provided to tourist service providers and tourists updated. |
