| Resumo: | The present investigation was carried out in the Pujili canton of the Cotopaxi province, in the bioclimatic floor (BsMnO3) that goes from 2000 m.a.s.l. at 3100 m.a.s.l., in the Evergreen Montane Forest of the Western Cordillera of the Andes, its main objective was the floral morphological characterization of the shrub species Chigua (Centropogon steyermarkii Jeppesen). Two phases were used: in the field phase, the external morphological characteristics of the flower were analyzed using the methodology established for the collection, conservation and transport of flowers. In the laboratory phase, the internal characteristics of the flower were determined, for which it was based on the guide "The flower, inflorescence and fruit", prepared by Blgo. Richard Javier Huaranca Acostupa (2010). In the species under study, the flowering stage of Chigua (Centropogon steyermarkii Jeppesen) was determined, it occurs in the third week of June and concludes the fourth week of July, it has a Corymbo-type inflorescence, with heterochlamid flowers with a tubular bell-shaped corolla with five petals. The calyx is gamosepalous with 5 sepals. The androecium consists of five anthers and the gynoecium has a supero ovary, unicarpelar, unilocular and multiovular. In the identification of the color of the flower, the Musell scale was used where the coding can be defined and the coloration can be structured. It has 90% tomato color with a code between 10R and 5YR |
