| Summary: | This research is located in the “San José de Poaló” Parish, a water purification treatment plant design was carried out to reduce the amount of arsenic 0.012 mg/l and fecal coliforms 5,1 NMP/100. It was compared with the maximum permissible levels of the “Instituto Ecuatoriano de Normalización” (INEN). In the research, a descriptive methodology was applied to collect information on the water supply, from the in-situ visit. For the recognition of the study area, the observation technique was used. With interviews applied to the authorities of the Administrative Board of drinking water, through this, it was possible to obtain information about the vital liquid that supplies the community and the different problems it presents. The study took into account the Ecuadorian Regulations INEN 2655, 1108, CEC, SENAGUA 612 and American Water Works Association AWWA, which deal with public drinking water systems and their requirements to improve water quality. For the treatment plant design was taken into consideration the calculations application such as future population, average endowment flow of 3,8 l/s, which was compared with a value of 3,7 1/s established by the Organic Law of Water Resources, giving us a similar value. The maximum daily flow, maximum hourly flow, and design flow of 5,17 l/s were determined. This design will have a tray aeration process, rapid filtration and disinfection. For the preparation of plans, the AutoCAD software was taken into account, in order to present an adequate design that allows the removal of fecal coliforms and arsenic present in drinking water, thus improving the quality of the resource and satisfying human needs. |
